Assimilation

Assimilation sounds like the ultimate sin in Israel and the worse thing a jewish person can do against his people.

On another case this week, A football player, Maor Melikson, left Israel to play in Poland decided to agree to play for the Polish national team and not for Isareli one and started a passionate assimilation "discussion".

He has good reasons! Maor Melikson played in all Israeli young national teams while he never got any attention by all 3 couches in last 8 years. As he turned into 27 and his career end is so close to being finished he decided to use his legal Polish passport that allowed him to develope a wonderful career in Poland and made him one of the top players in the Polish league and use it to progress his career forthur with the same people who did believe in him and his abilities !

Israelis claim that this is a shamful decision though they forget all foreigners who never even had Israeli or Jewish blood and got passports and citizenships when it was convinient to their teams (Mercer, Sharp or even Colautti).

Maor, go live your dream and follow what will make you happy ! This is your career and your life and I will support you even if you go and play in Poland and wear the red and white shirts. They just deserve you more than we do !!!

Too long... (Travelling)

Been too long since I updated anything...

I've been travelling quite a bit this summer. I love travelling, It just makes me happy ! There are few things that do make me happy and travelling is definitely one of them.

A lot happened lately which made me wanna write about. Maybe those will be my next few posts here. I live in a hectic country where things happened day after day and you already forgot what happened at the previous week.

Sometimes I think that this is the main reason I would like to go away from here. Its the reason I do not want to live here the rest of my life. I dont like stress. I like things moving on calmly, there could be problems but I just prefer stress to not be one of its symptoms.

Maybe it comes from my experience. From my dislike to stress as way of control and order. Thats how they work here. Its how they work in the army. Israel never learned how to separate the army from the civil life.

I just dont like it. I guess its hard to explain when its something so unique.
Maybe next time.

Bodner

Meredith Bodner just stand the new Israeli record at 8:41:55. This means she qualify for the next year's European championship. Bonder is still far far away from the top of the world while the world record stands on 8:14:10 made by Rebecca Adlington by the terrible swimsuits...

Bodner just smashed the old record 2 months ago so hope for more improvement from her. Always nice to watch th real hard working athlets get their eforts paid off!

GO Meredith!

Israeli Real Sport

During the last 20 years Israel become less and less educatative. People are become more and more ignorant and this education change lead to a dark age in Israeli sports.

While Kids think of sport as Football and Basketball, Maybe some thinks of Handball, The athletics in schools has stop to exist and the few ones who finally succeed were ones who came from Russia.

In the last few years theres a trial to try and bring this back. This brought us to enjoy Israeli Athletes as Itai Margalit (3000m Runner), Yohai Halevi (triple and long jumper - can jump over 8m !) and of course the lovely high jumpers Ma'ayan Foreman (1.92) and Daniel Frenkel (1.94).

These two magnificent prospects are enjoying their compatition and keep adding their cm each year. Its just a pleasure to finally feel as a sports country!

Will keep watch them in the Olympics and hope for best, At least for a new Israeli Record.

It will always come blow up to your face

Some things need to be said about what happened in Norway. Killing of 76 (the updated number 25/7) childs is one of the most visious and unhuman actions to do... I don't know how a person could live with himself for doing so and even feel he is right...

European terrorism is not new though terrorism inside europe is new... Since the 70s there were Germans who kidnapped and blow up planes, Killed hostages (Antebe - Air france kidnapped plane)and even sport athlets (Munic Olympics '72).

So london, Madrid, Stockholm and now Oslo face this act of cowards. In Israel it is untolerated action and an act of the most brutal terror attacks one can possibly do. Though many welcome this, It shows how the life with constant fear and danger feels like to normal living people.

The world is dark and there are many idiots walking around, out there... Nothing really changed and probably will never do...

My heart is with the innocent people who lost their sons, daughters and relatives...

Shit !

I would might disapoint some of my friends, maybe insult them, I would say sorry now.
This summer provide some sport events which usually gets to be at the shade of the bigger football world cup or olympics.

When comparing them, I would say thanx for the existance of European sport !!! Thanks for the existance of the tour the frence, Wimbledon, Rolan Garos...

At the bottom of the list will be there, the South American Copa America. The most dissapointing, boring and meaningful event. Its nice to see the surprises, this is refreshing though the football level is so low! The players seems like they are doing a favor of being there...

The copa is dissapointment mostly since the Euro Champ just rocks ! Its interesting, the level of football is fast, entertaining and it makes you wanna watch it. It brings teams who actually worked to be there and not just performing since they are part of the continent...

I think I'll just stick to the real sport on TV...

Stupidity is not handicap, but its close enough sometimes

Sometimes I believe some ppl just don't use their brain. They don't need to have much of it, just some, tiny small amount of common sense...

During the last week Israel forbid the enterance of "activists" into Israel with the weak explenation of "National Security risk". Sorry ! As an Israel and as a proud democratic citizen - This is just stupid !

I could understand and agree with stopping shippment and boats caring "aid" which need to be checked and verified before going into Gaza. I definitely could not agree with stoping "activists" at the airport just cause they simply protest against Israel or cause they want to go into Gaza.

Let them go in ! Why would I or any Israeli would not agree to enterance of "activists" into Gaza. As long as they do not carry anything with them which might danger Israeli citizens, why would that be a crime or something wrong?

Entrance of these activists into Israel should show them that Israel is inlightened, sunshine of freedom, peaceful and democracy in a very dark area in the world. Instead, they found what they (to my opinion wrongly) thought they would, a country which has much more to learn about how to behave and about how to remain democratic !

Justice System...

The justice system suppose to make order in the world and remove all crime and wrong behaviour exist... This of course not true and brings ridiculous cases and the twisting of the justice.

A guy, mid 20, decided to fight for his rights at any cause. He go protesting, rioting, throwing rocks, damaging property and the final action - hit policeman. Together with many other protesters they reach the final result of 13 dead and many injured. The guy who attacked the police and damage property got injured in his eye and lost it. He sued Israel for this and won 660,000nis.

There is a guy in Rakefet who got same injury in one of Israel's wars. He has some percentages of injury and he gets some compensation from the army for that each month. If he would add all the money he gets for the next 30 years he would not get to the ridiculous amount of 660,000nis....
___________________________________________________

An orthodox guy came to Kibbutz Gvat to have fun with his friends at the pool. They made fun, start to be more and more uncontrollable until the lifeguard asked them to stop. They of course didn't. The guy got pushed into the pool while his leg caught up in the tunnel of overflow water. He damaged and torn his Achilles tendon and of course sue the Kibbutz for that.

Instead of telling his that he is an idiot the court told the Kibbutz to compensate him with 20,000 nis.

Travelling

Can't believe its been a year already... Seems like few weeks passed by...
So on coming Thursday I'm going to visit my old friends in mother Finland, My old new home I've left behind.

I miss them so much... They were my family for 4 years. I'm not good with staying in touch, with some it works more, with some less, gladly we have FB... That sure makes a difference.

So 10 days to catch up, bring back nostalgy and relaxe. Sauna, Rain, Forest, hikes sure doesn't sound bad at all to me :)

Crony Capitalism

At some point during your life you realise that there are people who somehow lost the meaning of life. Or well, they just have a totally different priorities and view on their lives than you have on yours.

There are 17 families who control Israel's economy. One of them is the Ofer family. This family control the Dead Sea factories, Zim- One of the biggest naval transportation companies, Israel's Oil Refineries Ltd in Haifa and many others...

Due to this control this family got so much influent on politicians and position holders in the market which lead them to become "above the law" in a way.

The latest story tells about their business with one of Israel's enemy and a country which forced on sanctions by USA and Europe, a country that declares of its vision to whipe Israel off the map - Iran. This outragious and arrogant family desided its ok to deal with Iran...

The nervs and arragant behavior of these rich people just makes the blood to boil ! The greed of multi billioners just keeps amaze me each time like its the first time...

Rediculous...

It keeps happening each time, again and again... The Israeli national handball is going to play against Sweden as part of the European Championship qualifies.

The match will be held in the city of Karlskrona. Meanwhile there's a buying of tickets by Pro Palestinian protesters. I wouldn't have any problem with it, I don't mind them protest, I don't mind them trying to make themselves heard.

I do mind when it happened in places it shouldn't have ! Sports is our religious and these people sin time after time, desacret its purity, dehonor it by coming to be an audience and use it for non-related protests.

Another fact which bugs me even more is that these protesters are people who escaped from their countries into one of the best I know and keep focusing on, in my opinion, wrong issues. Instead of try to help their countries, protest against the dictatorship, the corruption, the lack of transparency and basic rights they tend to focus not even about the right to the Palestinians for a country but about their unaccepted Jewish state of Israel (even though the Israeli Arabs have probably the best lives in the Mid East).

This just makes me mad. Leave sport events to ones who like it and go protest in your own countries against stuff which really matters !

Amram Mitzna

There is a light at the end of a very dark tunnel. The politics in Israel has long ago lost my ability to effect and use my right of vote simply since I have no one to vote to.

Last 2 weeks something happened. Amram Mitzna, Left party leader in past and former Mayor of Haifa and Yeruham, decided to run for leading the lost and fall apart party. This is the best news I have heard in ages. Finally there is a person that I honestly feel to deserve my voting for him.

Mitzna is another army general who became a politician but the last one who let that effect his civilian life than all others. He was a very appreciated general though he got a lot of his admiration at his mayor jobs - first of Haifa (Between 1993 to 2002) tough for me the most important part of his public life was his role as the called mayor of Yeruham.

Yeruham is a town in the Israeli desert, Near Beer-Sheva. Very neglected and was very poor and uninteresting at the national view. Mitzna dedicated these years to improve the education and infrastructure in town and was able to achieve a small miracle - The new built neighbourhood in town, Something that no one ever imagined.

In 2005 there were 30 houses on sale at 20,000$. There was not even slightest interest. In 2009 these houses got 272 enquires which brought to 68 more houses to be planned and that brought amazing number of 4000 enquires as well.

Mitzna can be proud of the improved achievement in the education system who had in 2005 only 45% of diploma graduated high school students and today stands proudly with 68% which is even more than the national percentage.

His hard working personality, His vision, dedication and honestly brought me to know that we have a bright future ahead. We just need to make a step and vote this person to lead Israel. This is who I believe is a true Israeli and a person I would love to see representing my lovely country around the world.

Answers...

This weekend I was travelling with lovely travelers from CS (Couchsurfing). One of them, A german girl, asked few questions which I honestly had no answers to... So I told her I will check.

So...

Q: Why these bridges are being called Irish bridges?
A: The origin comes from the time when Ireland and England had a war between them. The Irish didn't want the English to know where they cross the rivers and streams so they invented this cross which is hidden.

Q: Who is Bar-Kohva and why do you light fire during your Lag-baomer holiday?
A: Bar-Kohva was a Jewish leader and lead the known "Bar Kokhba revolt" against the Roman Empire in 132 CE, establishing an independent Jewish state. His state was conquered by the Romans in 135 following a two-years war.

A: The celebration of lighting fire around is made because of few theories which one claim that when Bar-Kohva defeated the Romans, his army light a beacon to signal everyone about it.

Real Meaning of Freedom !

This is the story simple right...

Yoram Kaniuk was born in Tel Aviv in the days before Israel was established. At the age of 17 he fought in the independence war in 1948 and after he got injured he worked in a ship who brought jewish people to the country.

Yoram married Miranda, a Christian woman and they raised two girls which served in the army. They girls are not declared as Jewish since their mother is not jewish. In the last month, after his Grandson has declared Christian too, Yoram had enough and he went to fight for his family rights.

Yoram fight for the country of Israel as he fought for it to be. Jewish but Israeli. Not religious but one who follow the declaration of Independence. He always fought against the blind faith and the extreme radicals who corrupt everything.

How is it possible that someone who fought for the state, who serves and did his/hers duties will be treated like that? How is it possible that you can change your religion to Christian or even muslim but you cannot be considered non-religious?

After I saw a friend buried outside the military graveyard just because his mother is christian (although his father is jewish) I become to realise that I had enough with religion. I had enough with the lack of morals and the careless.

I don't follow anything religious. I believe in myself and in goodness of people. I would marry without a Rabi, without a Priest or a Wakf... I would live as I think a jewish person should live in 2011 !

A free man !

Sovereignty

Last week the Palestinians held their yearly demonstrations and protest for what they call the Nakba day, Dooms day, The establishment of Israeli state. They do not protest against the "occupation" or anything related. In their minds the existence of Israel is wrong.

After the riots of 2000 which started the second Intifada made by many Israeli Arabs the Jewish Israelies decided to boycotting their shops and merchandise. The result was a disastrous outcome for the Arab economics and many of the shops got closed. After few months they sent a request for all Jewish to stop it and come shop there again.

Since this happen the Israeli Arabs try to avoid the conflicts. They understand the effect it will have on them and their businesses. The Palestinians are not Israeli Arabs though even them manage to understand the effect the second Intifada had on them in the last 10 years. Since they stopped their "fighting" their economy is blooming, they enjoy life and focus on more important matters. On the other end you have Gaza which is still in "fighting" and well, you can see the difference yourself.

The Palestinians you see protesting are ones who do not live in Israel, Its the ones who flee to neighbour countries thinking 1948 war will be a quick war and they could return home. Other Palestinians are just fake ones... People who join them just cause they have something against Israel which sometimes they don't even know why...

During a non violent protest at the Syrian border few hundreds of them crossed the International border. They enter Israel. A big discussion was made in Israel weather the soldiers made the right move by not fire.

I would have !

This is not an inside "fighting". This is Israel's border. Simple as that. The second that a guy decided to touch the fence he should have get a bullet in his knee cap or in the head, doesn't matter. Same with the Turkish Marmara boat. If that boat would have been sank over they would not even think to do it again.

I wish that won't happen again. in any way.

Surprises...

Even at almost 30 years old I get surprised, Shocked, stunned bye the fact that people who know me for years over years do not know simple facts about Israel.

What can I say...
If you are interested and don't think you know all, welcome to ask me any questions or well, read Wikipedia at least :)

Israelisism....

I have to say that I had a weird feeling I never faced or felt ever until this year. After many years I had the opportunity to finally participate at the ceremonies of both Memorial Day and Independence Day.

I love Israel, I love its beauty, Its peacefulness, It is home... However this year something cracked in me.

I don't know what it is but in passed 10 years it seems that Israelies prefer to hate rather to live in peace. They keep looking for the bad at others rather fix our rotten apples. As fighting become part of the nerative way of living in Israel it seems that the radical approach is getting wider and wider and turned right constantly more and more...

Israelies like everyone to follow the mainstream. Anyone who doesn't will be labeled as a weirdow and outsidered immidiately. It is happening with the politics as well.

I believe Israel is a finished fact ! Since 1973 Israel become the most powerful state in the middle east and with all due respect to other rich countries around us, Israel is and will remain the most important and developed country in the region for another mileium...

I do believe though, that Israel and Israelies should start facing their problems than rather hide them under the carpet and waiting for someone else to clean it for them. Israelies have the right to live peaceful lives and raising their children as any other leading country in the world.

Sadly, People here prefer to fight constantly. They prefer living on anger, hate others and who is different from them, focus on themselves and not thinking about their environment and surroundings. After all, This is much better for the politicians than actually work and make changed for better.

This year I havent sang the anthem in any of the ceremonies. I just dont feel as connected as in the past. I think it tells it all.

Ignornce

At times I get to face Ignorance in many costumes. This time it happened in CS.
I am a member in CS since 2005 and I have never had to face the radicals in there simply since CS is a unique idea which talk mostly to ones who like to hear others and like to share.

The problem with the radicals is that they just tend to say whatever and they never listen, never think about what they say and how much they make people ignore them more...

When asked him to tone down and talk nicely, respect the community and think about what he posts he of course called me gay, idiot and a dick and told me how I will like to get it from behind...

What can I say...
I love Israel but when these are the people who live here and thats how they speak and express themselves it doesn't really want you to like it more.

Memorial Day

Yesterday was Israel's Holocaust memorial day. This year we also "celebrating" 50 years to "Eichman trial". Adolf Eichman was one of main leaders in the Nazi regime and he brought to trial after he was caught in Argentina by the Israeli Mussad.

The trial opened in 1961 and will be remembered bye the open sentence of Israel's attorney general:

"I stand here in front of you, teaching prosecution of trial, though I do not stand alone. Together with me stands another 6 million prosecutors. They cannot point their finger and scream at this person behind the protective glass since their ash covers most of Europe's lands..."

At the end of the trial Eichman was hanged. Eichman is the only person in the history of Israel that sentenced to death.

The trial was so important not cause Israel was able to caught a mass murderer but since it was the first time for Israelies and the rest of the world to hear the testimonies of many holocaust survivors.

Moshe Landau, who was the judge at Eichman's trial passed away yesterday at age of 91. Somehow all these symbolic events leave me speechless at the end.

Priorities...

When there is a mess around the world there is a chance to watch some different priorities in different countries.

Lybia, Egypt, Syria and other Arabian countries involved in a chaos, Civilian killing and "new" era ahead. Weather if good or bad, I don't think it is possible to know just yet. Though they have enough mess inside their countries their citizens and leaders prefer to blame Israel in everything and a new joke raised up - Cancelling the peace agreement. Egypt should focus on their inner problems before start to "improve" their diplomacy, That is what they fought and died for !

Meanwhile in Europe it is clearly not important news or subject since the "prince" is getting married. In the modern era I found this Royalty to be nothing but a big joke. Countries who consider themselves as the leaders of the world have few brats doing whatever.

People around the world are fighting and killing, Whole countries faces new future ahead though why would anyone care when a spoiled kid is getting married. Guess the English can choke with it. I would prefer to focus on important matters.

Exit of Egypt...

Holidays are here... Its Passover now, The holiday which we teach ourselves about the Hebrews exiting Egypt. Freedom and slavory are common words that shout to the air.

There are many types of slaves even today. You would think that in our modern days it will be something which no one will think should be existing. Well... IT DOES !

Prostitution and human sales are still out there where we see it or not. The morals which people live by is just wrong and bring me to think that no matter how much you will put an effort there will be 2 others who will make sure it remains the same.

I hate materialism and therefore could not possibly understand how it is possible to trade and sell human beings. I could not understand the cold hearted thought of doing such thing to another person.

Education is the way to make this go away. But when people preffer to blindly hate and make others ignorant so they could feel important this what will keep our world to be a simple hell.

Directions...

When you think you found yourself and you settled around you always have one more twist...
One more decision, one more step which change your life completely.

However...

This step will open doors, will show you things you haven't experienced before and will teach you that you just cant hold yourself at same spot all the time.

The excitement of the unknown is there always, around the corner, though its never easy to change your life again, just when its getting comfortable...

The need which won't go away...

I need to travel ! It is just a need which exist during everyday of my life...

I need this freedom, the relaxing of non important life to the most important way of living. I just know that when I gooff work into that magic world of camping and hiking I just get happy. Can't really change it though haven't learn how to optimize it yet...

I guess I'm still young. Maybe one day I'll win the lottery and will be able to enjoy what really matters around the year.

Just too much...

I just can't find a good reason for the positive sides of the Miss Israel crap !!!
What are the reasons which allow this amazingly irrelevant ceremony to be still happening?

It is an insult to women and to men !
Just sad that in 2011 these things still exist ...

Titles...

Still funny to see the word Engineer after my name... I wonder if this will ever pass away.
Why do I still feel like I know nothing much and that anyone who will hire me is crazy?

I hope one day it will go away and I could be bit more self-confidence. I know I'm ok and I learn a lot. I'm still learning many things like approaching all kind of administration offices (Israeli bureaucracy SUCKS !).

Being more organized is something I got to understand bit more aware of. I am bad at it but I do learn and getting into it. It's very satisfying and I'm quite pleased I managed to get into a small company where I could fit in just perfectly.

After all, I am pretty much happy :)

The way to Hadera

During my work I need to drive once a while to meetings in Hadera WWTP (Waste Water Treatment Plant). Today was such a day.

Its started with amazing beautiful dayin the lower Galilee - Great views up to the Mediteranean Sea and sunny clear sky. Then the traffic jams of the north hit you in the face.

I HATE TRAFFIC JAMS !!!
Most times they happening not cause the roads are bad but cause people don't know how to drive. Cutting lines, cutting you, pushing, driving slow, driving fast... Disaster.

The wwtp sits between wheat fields in a beautiful gravel road leading the way. Dreamy ! Just makes you drive slower to enjoy.

Sometimes work can be fun and nice as well... I'm happy to find myself into this profession. Life is beautiful ! Just need to remember and try to aprichiate it bit more than we usually do :)

Rakefet

I don't know how many know but I live in a small village called Rakefet... Rakefet islocated at the heart of the Galilee and just between Haifa and the Sea of Galilee.

There are 170 families living in Rakefet. It was established during 1981 as an agricultural sociable village but in 1989 it become a normal village. Rakefet is located just near the regional council and as a result we used to walk to school.

Its a peaceful area with community life and nature suroundings. Most people who live here enjoy the living near to the arab villages around and support the harmony and quite which can be in the entire area if people would just want to stop fighting...

Anyway, I don't see any reason why living in another place in the world other wise to that your GF force you to :D

Humanity

Wanted to post about the winter and how beautiful nature is. About the colours and the green fields and how peaceful it is.

Terrorist sneak into a settlement yesterday near Neblus in the West Bank and by cold heartless action murdered a couple and 3 of their 6 kids. One was 3 and one was 1 month old baby.

I understand the idea of hurting Israelies, I understand actions against soldiers and the army that goes into the palestinian villages and cities, I don't have top accept them but I do understand.

Killing a baby and small kids is a RED LIMIT.

Just sad.

Israeli Winter

Being back in Israel isn't always depressing and sad. The Israeli winter reminds that there is always a beautiful side as well.

The flowers are showing their amazing colours, all rages of blue, whites and reds filling the fields and hills around and it is completly amazing to walk less then a km away from home and just feel happy.

Japan

Last year Haiti and Chile, This year it's Australia, New Zealand and now Japan... The Nature shows us how powerful it can be and how tiny we are. Its time of prespective and time to get to know our place in the world.

We cannot control everything.

I just wish these events to be the less harmless as possible. My heart goes with them.

Careless

I can't watch news anymore! I just can't agree with the careless of our "modern" society have in it. I would admit that I do not care about many things but the cold hearted careless is something I just could not agree or understand.

A guy run over teenaged girl and get a 1000 shekel fine and civil service work. REALLY? What would stop him to drive again drunk? What kind of message is that ??? Just unbelievable how its even possible !

There are many cases who showed that our society become materialist and hallow... I can listen to Mobile phone adds anymore. I just cant think of people who earn minimum wage or less and still spend half of it on that piece of plastic! It's just one of many examples.

I'll just say thanks for living so close to the nature and wilderness and the possibility of run away from this urbanization jungle crap and have some piece of mind once a while.

Back to writing...

Last year was a rough one... Many things changed in my life but its getting on track now... I'm back in Israel, I enjoy my time with my family and after many years I have the chance to enjoy the Israeli winter. The flowers and nature which I missed so much !

It's still weird be back in Israel in a way, I just haven't saw myself living here again, although Israel is definitely not a bad country to live in. I love it here and its MY country.

I am working finally, found work after 3 months of searching which is not bad and got a good job in my field. Normally using AutoCAD and learning how to manage projects of sewage treatment plants and sewage pipelines works... Very interesting and I'm sure happy to got the chance !

I've been hosting CSers a lot lately and going abroad for visiting is burning in my bones, I sure miss Europe and Finland and I miss my friends I left behind...

OK, I'm at work and should do some work too for a change.
More to come tomorrow.
